meet the secretariat

Anuj Khemka

Secretary-general

All good, stressful, and very difficult things must come to an end, and for Anuj, that thing is BULLSMUN. Anuj has organized every BULLSMUN since relaunching the conference at USF in April of 2024, and he is beyond proud to be presiding over his final conference before he graduates.  With eight committees, 300+ delegates, a staggering number of special committee mechanics, and an Ad-Hoc topic Anuj swears he did not choose, this is certain to be the biggest, most ambitious edition of the conference yet!

Although BULLSMUN has stayed at the forefront of Anuj's mind for much of the last two years, he has occasionally managed to focus on other pursuits. This includes crying over his Computer Science coursework, riding his bicycle across state lines, and flying to different cities to compete with USF's Model UN Travel Team.

Model UN, for better or worse, has left a pretty significant imprint on the last nine years of Anuj's life. This activity has introduced him to some truly fascinating people (see the rest of this page), left him with nervous butterflies more times than he can count, and even if it hasn't necessarily made him a better person, it is has made him more assertive, adaptive, and creative than he ever would've been otherwise. BULLSMUN is Anuj's way of giving back to a community that has given him so much. If this conference leads even one delegate to fall in love with collaboration, conflict, and on-the-fly speaking the way Anuj's first conferences did for him, then all the late nights, last-minute staff replacements, and agonizing planning of logistics will have been worth it.

janessa wright

Secretary-general

Janessa Wright is a third-year student at the University of South Florida, majoring in Finance with a double-minor in Risk Management & Insurance and Economics. Janessa has been active in Model UN since high school and has attended a myriad of collegiate conferences and staffed numerous high school conferences, including USF's very own BULLSMUN for the past two iterations. Her journey in MUN began just over three years ago with a love for global conflict resolution, negotiation, and service leadership – which has since grown into a passion for problem-solving and strategic leadership.

In addition to her role as Secretary-General, Janessa serves as USF Model UN’s Vice President, where she led the competitive team to its most award-winning performance at a major collegiate conference, ChoMUN, in USF MUN history. In previous years, she served as a committee chair/crisis director for a hybrid committee at BULLSMUN II, where she helped execute the most well-attended iteration of the conference and helped train new delegates, always seeking to build an inclusive, empowering MUN environment.

Outside of MUN, you can find her dancing bachata, salsa, or merengue with the USF Latin Dance Club, choreographing ballet or contemporary pieces with the USF Dance Club, singing, or cooking some of her favorite Caribbean cuisines for her friends and family. Janessa is beyond excited and deeply honored to serve as Secretary-General, and is looking forward to working with the rest of the secretariat and BULLSMUN delegates to help shape our best conference yet!

MARYSA BATTING

UNDERSECRETARY-GENERAL OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Marysa Batting is a third-year at the University of South Florida, double-majoring in Psychology and Political Science, with a minor in International Studies. Marysa has been an active member of the USF MUN chapter since Fall 2024, but her MUN experience dates back to her middle school years, which sparked her life-long interest in conflict resolution and global politics. Marysa firmly believes that MUN is a great way to learn about the methods through which conflict is resolved around the world, and stresses the importance for young professionals to have such a relevant and applicable learning opportunity.

At BullsMUN III, Marysa will be serving as your Undersecretary General of General Assembly, a position she holds outside of the event as well. She also has experience staffing USF’s BULLSMUN II and participating in prestigious conferences like UPMUNC and more recently, ChoMun. This is her first time serving as a Secretariat member for BULLSMUN, and will work to make a fun and competitive environment for delegates.

Besides MUN, Marysa also enjoys writing poetry, having published her first poetry book earlier this year. She also enjoys reading, with specific interest in classical fiction. Marysa also takes a specific interest in global politics, researching and thinking about how conflict, even on the local level, shapes our world. Marysa is super excited to facilitate debate in both her roles, and is ecstatic to see how delegates take on the challenges presented to them in BullsMUN III!

LEILA SUJANANI

UNDERSECRETARY-GENERAL OF CRISIS

Leila Sujanani is a third-year student at the University of South Florida, double majoring in Biology and Geology. She has been an active member of USF MUN since Spring 2023, with her passion for global engagement deepening through her experiences as a NSLI-Y alumna. Although her high school didn’t have a MUN program, Leila has always sought to bridge science and diplomacy, aspiring to be a global citizen through her academic and extracurricular pursuits.

At BULLSMUN III, Leila will serve as the Under SecretaryGeneral of Crisis and the Crisis Director for The Museum Strikes Back: A Night at the Museum of Natural History. She is also an award-winning delegate across multiple conferences, returning for her second BULLSMUN after co-chairing ASEAN last year. She looks forward to bringing this year’s committee to life—and maybe even a museum exhibit too!

Leila’s research interests focus on paleoclimatology and glacial systems, where she uses GIS and field data to study environmental change across time. Outside of research, she enjoys painting, traveling, and performing jazz as a vocalist in USF’s Blue Mood ensemble. Beyond the classroom, she is a UN Millennium Fellow/Campus Director passionate about science diplomacy and the environment, and she currently helps lead many initiatives to promote biodiversity and community engagement on campus through the USF Seed Library and USF Botanical Gardens.

max merchant

UNDERSECRETARY-GENERAL OF operations

Max Merchant is a second-year student at the University of South Florida, majoring in both Economics and Political Science. Since spring 2025, Max has been a member of the USF Model UN club. While initially drawn to the club by his interest in global politics and MUN’s inherent competitive nature, the other aspects of competition, such as resolution drafting, have also become of interest to him.

At this year's BULLSMUN conference, Max will serve as your Undersecretary of General Logistics, as well as chair for the Wild, Wild West: Scorpion City committee. In addition to these roles, Max has had competitive success as a delegate on USF’s Model UN Travel Team.

In his own time, Max is a professional pianist playing in venues such as country clubs and churches, skiing on extreme terrain (when the opportunity arises), reading the works of Tolkien, or engaging in advocacy. Max is honored and excited to serve in the roles of Undersecretary of General Logistics and Crisis Chair. He can’t wait to see how creative the delegates are in committee!

haran mahesh

UNDERSECRETARY-GENERAL OF operations

Haran Mahesh is a second-year student at the University of South Florida, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Spanish. Haran has been an active member of USF’s MUN team since spring 2025. He was driven to Model United Nations due to the interpersonal skill-building and hands-on learning of international issues that it provides.

At BULLSMUN III, Haran will be serving as your Undersecretary of General Logistics, as well as chair for the Ad-Hoc Specialized Committee. Haran hopes that all of the delegates in the Ad-Hoc enjoy the committee that Haran cooked up. He also wishes that this BULLSMUN runs smoothly and is enjoyable for all delegates.

Besides MUN, Haran is the President of USF’s competitive debate team, a candidate for student government, and a research assistant. His main interest is climate advocacy, which he does by lobbying elected officials and educating students. In his free time, he binges shows (Succession, Community, and AOT are his favorite), plays with his dog, and hangs out with his friends.
